The Web Hosting Handbook: Everything (Almost) You Need To Know

by MAHESH MOHAN on January 12, 2016

Web Hosting Companies

There are a ton of web hosting companies on the web and countless web hosting comparisons, reviews, coupons and deals of those hosting companies also exists. And almost all of the bloggers recommends at least one web hosting company of their choice.

The problem is, the web hosting provider recommended by ‘Blogger A’ could be the worst rated hosting company by ‘Blogger B’ or vice versa. Again, a good percentage of the bloggers or the “best web hosting reviews and ratings” are biased.

For instance, HostGator.com is among the Top 10 Web Hosting Companies (actually at #2) by PC Magazine in 2015 and its Editor Rating is EXCELLENT (Screenshot) — when it’s easily one of the worst rated host in 2015.

And recently I noticed that an ‘award-winning’ blogger was promoting a Black Friday deal of a web hosting company that he otherwise loved to hate. Then again, there are bloggers who is hosting their website with ‘Host A’ but they are promoting ‘Host B’. You know why? Affiliate commissions. Period.

Web Hosting: Everything (Almost) You Need To Know

Today, I just wanted to give you my personal perspective about “web hosting”. And no, I’m neither going to write an individual review of a host nor going to recommend a specific host.

Instead, my goal is to discuss several aspects of web hosting plus compare some of the most popular web hosting companies (with a price comparison chart). I believe you can choose a web hosting plan by yourself once you go through the entire article.

I have organized the article into different sections to make it more readable and here you go:

  • Web Hosting Catches

The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Handbook — 201+ Resources, Tips, Guides & Tools

by MAHESH MOHAN on March 23, 2015

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is evolving. And the good thing is… you no longer need a ton of backlinks to rank higher on search engines. In fact, all the Google algorithmic updates that happened over the past several years were to filter out low-quality websites.

For instance, there was an algorithmic update to penalize content farms and websites that were engaged in spamming. And there was another update to penalize web pages with slow loading speed or one with lot of ads.

Here is a comprehensive list of SEO resources that I have collected over the past several years. I have made sure that only the best resources that are comprehensive and simple to understand remain in this list. And to make it easier to consume I have organized all the resources into the following categories and sub-categories. Link building is the process of building inbound links (also known as incoming links or backlinks) to your website. And post Google Panda and Penguin Updates it’s all about increasing the quality and not the quantity of backlinks.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Link Building Strategies are changing after every Google Algorithmic updates. For instance, post Google Penguin, SEOs were focusing on Guest Blogging and then Google’s Matt Cutts wrote on his personal blog that Guest Blogging is done.

I published a blog post about the various link building strategies after the first Google Penguin update. But as Google began to push more algorithmic updates everything SEO began to change and now it’s all about user experience. So the new definition of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) could be User Experience Optimization (UXO).

The Email Marketing Handbook – 101+ Resources, Tips, Strategies & Tools

by MAHESH MOHAN on November 17, 2014

Email Marketing Handbook

If you’ve been following Minterest for some time, you might have noticed that I haven’t published any blog posts related to “Email Marketing” till date. The primary reason is that I do not have a newsletter… yet. In fact, I hate email marketers,  as I consider 90% of them as spammers.

But it’s also true that email marketing is more important now than ever. It’s like we live in a new era of Email Marketing 2.0. That exactly is the reason why your favorite blogs and websites are too keen to collect your email so that they can add you to their email list. Email is the best way to communicate directly with the customers because 91% of Internet users check their email at least once a day.

Email marketing moves the conversation about your business to a more personal environment – the in-box. — Copyblogger

Let’s say you’re a blogger and is starting a new business. So in that case you can send an email to all your readers and say about your new venture and can even offer something valuable that regular customers won’t get.
