The 13 Best Google Chrome Extensions I Can’t Live Without (Plus 13 I Can Live Without)

by MAHESH MOHAN on October 9, 2015

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is much more than just a browser and that’s how it became the web’s favorite internet browser. And it was perhaps the first cloud-integrated web browser.

That is, everything you do inside Google Chrome was automatically synced across all your computers (and today mobile devices as well).

And there are literally hundreds of thousands of Google Chrome extensions that can make this super-browser even more powerful.

Don’t Miss: Productivity Tools: The Fantastic Ten To Skyrocket Your Productivity

The good thing is, there must be an extension to make Chrome work the way you want. For instance, I often end up accidentally close a pinned tab. So, I can install an extension called Lock Tab to prevent it (I’m not using it though).

The only problem with Chrome is that… it’s so resource hungry that it eats up your computer’s memory (RAM) in a big way. So make sure that you don’t overload your browser with a ton of add-ons or extensions.

It will not only slow down your computer but also make it a mess as most of the Chrome extensions can access your browsing history (or much more). So it’s always a good idea to install only the trusted ones.

Today, I have sorted some of the best Google Chrome extensions and apparently they are also my personal favorites.

13 Google Chrome Extensions I Can’t Live Without

Here’s a quick reminder. It’s really impossible to come up with a definite list of Google Chrome extensions as its selection depends upon a person and his/her nature of work.

For instance, if you are a gamer or a graphic designer then you may not find much helpful extensions. But if you are a blogger or even a writer then you would find at least few of them helpful.

That’s why this is a list of my favorite extensions. And I have divided the list into two: the first 13 are the ones that I can’t live without and it’s enabled all the time. And the next 13 are the ones that I activate on-demand — that is, when I want to do something with it.

If you’re looking for a comprehensive list then check out: Top 50 Google Chrome Productivity Extensions and Top 30 Google Chrome SEO Extensions.

50 Best Google Chrome Extensions

I have tried my best to avoid duplicate extensions to make sure that no two extensions serve the same purpose. Instead of listing duplicate extensions as separate entries I added them as alternatives so that you can consider them.

Over 25 Google Chrome New Tab Extensions You Probably Don’t Know

by MAHESH MOHAN on December 1, 2014

Google Chrome New Tab Page

I wanted to update my Speed Dial 2 review by listing more New Tab extensions at the end. But then I realized that there are ton of extensions that deserve a mention so I decided to feature the ones that I liked the most here. This article is for those who dislike the default Chrome New Tab page and is looking for a replacement.

I’ve categorized the extensions as Feature Rich and Simple/Empty New Tab extensions. You can try the feature rich extensions if you want a start page that’s customized to tailor your needs. And you can go for Simple extensions if you want to disable the default start page.

Another problem is… most people don’t know what they want. Today I’m going to focus only on SEO plugins and I have sorted over 30 plugins that you can try as an SEO. I’m not including any of the non-SEO extensions as they’re already covered.

Why Speed Dial 2 Is The Best Google Chrome New Tab Extension

by MAHESH MOHAN on October 3, 2013

Google Chrome

If your primary web browser is Google Chrome then it’s more likely that its “New Tab” page appears annoying to you.

I’m one of those who prefers to keep the number of web browser extensions or mobile apps as minimum as possible. But at the same time I make sure that I have all the tools I want.

So if you want to customize the “New Tab” page then there are so many extensions available on the Chrome web store. Yes, Google is improving the appearance of the “New Tab” page but you still can’t customize it the way you want.

How To Customize And Replace Google Chrome "New Tab" Page

by MAHESH MOHAN on November 5, 2012

Google Chrome

I hate Google Chrome’s “New Tab” page simply because its annoying. The primary reason is that the “Most visited” websites which Google Chrome shows are not necessarily my favorite websites or I already have a link to those websites in my “Bookmarks bar” which is always visible. Then why do I need an annoying “New Tab” page that’s good for nothing?

That’s not all! There’s an “Apps” page too which is I don’t require. I rarely visit the “Apps” page but I rely on Google Chrome Extensions a lot. Again there’s a shortcut to access all the extensions in the browser itself so why would I visit the “Apps” page?

10 Google Chrome Tips & Tricks You Probably Don’t Know

Google Chrome Tips & Tricks

Google Chrome Features, Tips and Tricks

I’m a Microsoft fanatic and my favorite web browser is STILL Internet Explorer (and always will be). Because I love Microsoft and the brand “Internet Explorer”. But when Google Search began to hang on Internet Explorer I was forced to switch to Google Chrome. I hate Mozilla Firefox. But now, I’m quite comfortable with Google Chrome. And, I don’t think that I will switch back to Internet Explorer anytime soon unless they launch something innovative.
