Yahoo! Mash Blog

Yahoo! Mash is Yahoo’s latest social network service. It is Yahoo’s answer to the popular social networking websites Facebook and MySpace. Last year Yahoo! offered US$1 billion to acquire Facebook but was knocked out. Facebook expects to add more than 200 million users in the next 12 months so that the company would be valued at US$10 billion.

Mash is Yahoo’s second attempt in the social networking space after the failure of Yahoo! 360. Mash is currently an invitation-only beta service. So ask one of your friends who is already in to invite you.

Will Aldrich the head of Yahoo! Mash team says in Mash Blog.

We just started inviting our friends outside Yahoo! to join us in testing
Mash: a new approach to online profiles. If you’ve used other online
profiles before you’ll feel at home in Mash. But there are some new twists that make things a little interesting and, we think, a lot of fun.

Yahoo! Mash is a combination of Facebook, MySpace, My Yahoo and Wikipedia as it offers the most popular features of these services. In Yahoo! Mast users can change each others profile but it gives the option to undo those changes too. You can even turn off this feature. So Mash can be considered as a Wikipedia version of a social network.
