Microsoft on Wednesday said that the launch of its ‘Halo 3′ Video Game for XBOX 360 is one of the biggest in the Entertainment History with US$170 million in U.S retail sales in the first day as against Microsoft’s prediction of US$150 million.

‘Halo 3′ surpassed its predecessor ‘Halo 2′ launched in 2004. Microsoft sold 2.38 million units of ‘Halo 2′ on the opening day.

This new game is exclusive to Microsoft’s XBOX 360 Gaming Console and it costs $60 or $130 for the “legendary edition”.

The game had beaten movie releases such as ‘Spider Man 3′ and book launches such as ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ in opening sales.

‘Halo 3′ is available in 37 countries and in 17 languages. Microsoft expects that the launch of ‘Halo 3′ will boost the sales of its XBOX 360 gaming console.
