In this first part of Make Money Online By Affiliate Marketing I’m going to explain Affiliate Marketing and also a brief introduction to Commission Junction.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is an internet marketing channel in which advertisers (or companies who offer a product or service) pay publishers on a pay-for-performance basis. So unlike Google AdSense or Yahoo! Publisher Network you don’t earn anything for clicks. You’re only paid for results which could be a sale or a lead (user fill a form and complete registration). In Affiliate Marketing as advertisers pays only for results its a win-win situation as they don’t have to shell out large amount of money in Banner Advertising or  Pay-Per-Click Networks like Google AdWords, Microsoft adCenter or Yahoo Search Marketing where the results are not guaranteed.

What Exactly Is Commission Junction?

Commission Junction (or CJ) is a "Global Leader in Affiliate Marketing, Online Advertising and Search Engine Marketing". CJ was founded in 1998 and is the largest affiliate network in the world. People make money online by promoting products and services of other companies in the world. The products could be a virtual one or a physical one. Internet Marketers are making tons of $$$ from affiliate marketing alone. Some are making 5 digit income. It doesn’t mean that you earn the same but you can earn like that for sure if you work hard.

How Commission Junction Works?

Commission Junction is perhaps the largest Affiliate Marketing Network in terms of Number of Advertisers too. Companies including Yahoo, Adobe, Dell, eBay, Apple, AT&T, Monster, NewEgg are among the top advertisers in CJ Network. Publishers or Webmasters who is looking to promote these companies apply to join an advertiser’s affiliate program. The advertiser may approve you or decline you. Upon acceptance into their affiliate program you can select affiliate links and place those links in your Website/blog, Email Newsletters, or can be used for Search Engine Marketing.

When a visitor clicks on your affiliate URL a cookie is set and that tracks that visitor so that in case he/she bought something from the advertiser website you get paid a commission. All transactions are tracked by Commission Junction and once a sale or lead is tracked you get paid.

All the payments are handled by Commission Junction who issues a payment to you on or around 20th of each month via Check or EFT (in some countries). The real advantage of Commission Junction or an Affiliate Network is that you don’t have to go to each advertiser’s website to apply individually. You can apply to any advertisers within the network in few clicks. And what’s more the minimum payment with Commission Junction is just $25 when compared with Google AdSense’s $100.
