Planning to start an online business? Then, it’s time to choose the right domain name for your business. It’s important to have a domain name of your own even if you are going to promote other businesses (affiliate marketing). First think about which domain name(s) makes sense for your business.
Your domain name is your identity and people uses that to find your business. Now should you go with a .info, .biz or similar domain names? No!!!
Just go for a .COM domain name. Search Engines give more importance to .COM domain names. Also, people trust a .COM domain name more than any other domain names.
Now analyze the ‘Keywords" for your business and use that information to select a domain name. It’s because having a keyword rich domain is critical for your online business.
Start your "Keyword Research" using the following keyword suggestion tools.
Overture Keyword Selector Tool
SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool
Now select those keywords which are popular and rank them according to its popularity.
Registering a domain is very easy these days. Just fill up the form and pay using your credit card (or PayPal).
There are tons of websites which provides domain registration service. I have registered around 24 domain names. I didn’t register all those domains from one site instead I used different services.
I recommend three domain registration services namely GoDaddy, Netfirms and Yahoo! Domains.
GoDaddy is the largest domain registrar and it surpassed Network Solutions in terms of total domain names registered. GoDaddy offers one of the cheapest domain registration service. GoDaddy charges you $6.95/year for a domain name and charges additional $6.99/year if you want to enable Whois privacy.
Netfirms charges only $4.95 for the first year and then $9.95/year from the second year onwards. What I like about Netfirms is that they give domain Whois privacy absolutely free. So its a deal.
Now, what’s up with Yahoo? Yahoo! Domains charges just $1.99 for the first year. Renewals are at $9.95/year. What about Whois privacy? Yahoo! charges additional $9/year for Whois privacy.
If you want to enable Domain Name Privacy then I suggest you to go for Netfirms. And if you are looking for the cheapest domain registration service then choose Yahoo! Domains. Finally, if you want to join the largest domain registrar then register it with GoDaddy.

Hi Mahesh
Which is cheapest for .info registration, i heard godaddy but i don’t have a coupon code ,need your suggestion.
Thanks
Hello John,
Yahoo! Domains is the cheapest of all domain registrars. It costs just $1.99 for .com|.net|.org|.biz|.info|.us but that’s for first year only. Renewals are at $9.95 but you are free to trasfer your domains to another cheap registrar after one year. I’m using Yahoo! Domains and the service is good and it’s a nice feeling to be with the Web’s Most Favorite Web Site.
