Today I am going to share a few tips about Microsoft adCenter (formerly MSN adCenter). I believe that all the information written in this article is true, correct and complete.

I. Microsoft adCenter (formerly MSN adCenter) is Microsoft’s online advertising platform with an estimated audience of 99 million potential customers.

II. According to Microsoft website MSN/Live Search is converting users into buyers at a higher rate than Google or Yahoo and it’s correct too as from my own experience I have found that Microsoft adCenter offers a better conversion rates than Yahoo! Search Marketing or Google AdWords. There were times when my conversions were over 10%.

III. Among Yahoo, Google, and MSN the traffic quality of MSN Search or Live Search is the best. It means you get more Return On your Investment (ROI).

IV. The whole Sign Up process is pretty easy with simple and powerful user interface. I must say that Google AdWord’s interface is the best of all as it’s very simple and easy to use and Yahoo! Search Marketing’s user interface is the worst of all as it’s very complicated with too many features.

V. The customer support is not that great but again it’s far better than Yahoo! Search Marketing. Sometimes it takes a week to get a reply from the customer support at Yahoo! Search Marketing.

VI. Pay less for quality traffic. It’s one of the biggest advantages of MSN adCenter over Google AdWords. adCenter’s bid rates are much lower than that of Google. The Minimum bid required per click is 0.05$. However the number of clicks are significantly lower than that of Google, it’s because of Google’s 60% market share in search market.

VII. The activation fee is just $5. But unlike Google AdWords your Promotional Coupon Credit doesn’t apply to the setup fee of $5 which is required to open a new adCenter account. But I think it’s better than Yahoo’s $30 initial deposit (it’s not setup fee).

VIII. At this point of time Microsoft adCenter accepts only payments via Credit Card. adCenter don’t accept PayPal but they do accept some Virtual Credit Cards and Gift Cards. I have recently tried to create an account using a Virtual Credit Card. The Sign Up process went smoothly but after a couple of hours I got an email message from adCenter team that they were unable to process my credit card. But I have used that same virtual card when I first used adCenter. Now they are not accepting the same I guess they improved their credit card verification process. That’s the reason why they are declining my physical credit card which I have used to sign up for two or three accounts.

IX. I have read in some forum/blog that we can create up to 3 Microsoft adCenter accounts using the same credit card and earn coupon credits. Unfortunately it’s wrong you can’t Sign Up for multiple accounts to get the Promotional Credits. However it may work for you but it’s against Microsoft’s terms. Microsoft’s clearly says that “Promotional credit is valid only for new advertisers opening a new account with Microsoft adCenter”.

X. The Microsoft adCenter Promotional Credits are valid only for individuals from United States. But I’ve heard that people were successful in creating an adCenter account with promo codes using fake US addresses. In fact I have done that myself some time back when MSN adCenter was launched with their $200 Promo Codes, I managed to get over $600 promo credits.

Promotional Credits are valid only for 90 Days. It means that if you didn’t redeemed your credits with in 90 days then it will expire so that they will charge your credit card for any clicks generated. So if you don’t want your credit card to be charged then make sure that you review your campaigns often and pause the campaign once it nears $75 (assuming that as the promotional credit).

Unlike Yahoo Search Marketing the Promotional Credits in adCenter are credited to the account immediately. So that your ads will go live once your account is verified. It takes less than 12 hours if you complete the sign up during day time.

AdWords is a chief advertising product by Google that offers pay-per-click and site-targeted advertising for banner and text advertisement. The ad program is distributed among local, countrywide, and global level. We are now going to talk about the text advertisement of AdWords that comprises of one title line and two description text lines. There are two basic and essential factors of succeeding at Google AdWords and kinds of PPC such as Yahoo Search Marketing and AdCenter. First is to make out right keywords and second is to write little tiny ads. Let me give you some steps together to get started with Google AdWords campaign:

First Step – Get required information

Before you plan to make money online with Google AdWords, get yourself educated in the field. You first require full understanding on how adwords and pay-per-click-work. Go through some informative sites that offers complete guide on AdWords. Additionally, you can as well go through various e-books on this topic. However, be sure that the authors are believable, knowledgeable, and specialized experts. Only these authors would share a wealth of information, tips, ideas and strategies.

Second Step- Sign up for Google AdWords

Once you have grabbed the knowledge required to work with Google adwords you may then sign up for the account. Google has a very minimal cost for getting started. Google would also take you through various steps in preparing up your account.

Third Step – Make Catchy Text Ad

You would further need to create text ad to be placed. The main reason of the text ad is to get many visitors to click on the ad. You ads should to stand out from your competitors. Before making your text ad, go through your competitor’s ads campaign. Then write numerous different catchy text ads and check each one to see which one carry highest click thru rate.

Fourth Step – Work on your Keywords

This is one of the main steps where you really need to careful choosing some. Keyword list is very important, which determines the difference between success and failure of your ad. So your focus should be more on making most efficient and popular keyword list. The more you concentrate on your keywords the more your visitor would be interested in clicking your ad, which results in more sales by you. On the other hand, the more common keywords used would result in more visitors, which may not really be interested in what you are selling and this could easily and rapidly expend your PPC advertising budget.

Fifth Step – Budget Setting

You need to make out what is your maximum budget desired to spend on an average per day basis and what is maximum amount you are willing to expend each time visitors clicks on your PPC ad. So set your maximum budget at a reasonably priced and comfy level and do not spend more than your sightseer is worth. Here you can work smart by generating quality ads and keeping minimum bid on ads.

These are just five essential steps towards the success of Google AdWords campaign. As you get experienced with adwords, you are certain to keep improving your campaigns performance. In turn as your ad performance improves you would get more targeted visitors, which is certain of more sales by you.

Now it is the time of year ending, where we looking back on last 365 days and making sense to know what the year was all about. Do will call the year as “year of Social Networks” considering the bang of sites a like Del.icio.us, Digg, Technorati, Furl, Yahoo MyWeb, BlogMarks, LQBookmarks, FeedMarker, Frassle, Linkroll, Loom, MyProgs, Reader², Reddit, Scuttle, Unalog, CiteULike, Connectedy, StumbleUpon. Or do will call it as the “Year of Improved Search” considering the development made in the searches of Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and Ask.com. Some of them may also call it as the “Year of SEO closing” considering the augment to personalized and custom-made search results has changed the way search marketers go about their jobs.

Summing up all the major changes took place in last 365 days we could call 2007 as the “Year of Bang on Internet Marketing”. Between the consolidation of members in the search and online advertising space, the augmenting ability of search marketers to get the attention of the larger internet marketing groups would look back on 2007 as a coming-of-age year for the search industry.

Year of Social Networks

Considering the fame of social bookmarking sites recognized as social networks such as Flickr and Twitter, with rise of social news sites like Digg and Netscape and start of social search sites like Mahalo and Search Wikia, it would not be unreasonable to call 2007 as the “Year of Social Networks”. Social Networks are also treated as a diversion so it is obvious that search marketers are involved. Social Bookmarking sites were stared to gear up on Internet Marketing circles and it became important for reputation management.

Year of Improved Search

The introduction of universal search result was one of the major and significant changes brought for search engine optimizers. Apart from the well-known “top ten blue links,” internet savvy are not started to see more than just HTML pages attached into search results. There is a lot more appearing such as news stories, videos, images and blog posts. The kick start was given by Google during May by launching Universal search. This was further followed by Microsoft in September, and then Yahoo took over by adding its blended search during October.

The moves were well-admired with great interest, but no one denied the importance of advertisers. The requirement of getting your websites in more searches, believed to be the effects of personalized search result and enlarge the usual definition of SEO became even more significant.

Let’s make out what happened on search advertising side this year. On the search advertising side, the top search advertisement networks such as Adsense, Yahoo Search Marketing and AdCenter all incorporated improved ranking algorithms. Instead of concentrating only on bid amount, now search advertisers have to consider certain factors like click-through rates, in addition to more otherworldly factors like chronological performance and advertisements predictable performance in relation to other advertisement. Yahoo had launched its ad ranking system Panama projects in February. Later Google updated its 18-months-old ad quality scores algorithm. This was followed by Microsoft in April, by adding a quality score element to adCenter.

Year of SEO closing

Gone are those days of old stand-bys of SEO on-page and off-page factors, the year ended up with more of social media and network tools. Not that SEO is entirely closed but certainly the value got diminished. First because of the augmenting significance of inbound links in search engine algorithms, and secondly because of the recent change in search results pages themselves. In addition, universal and mixed search results are needed search promoters to think further than the fundamental Web page to deem optimizing videos, images, text and other types of upright content now presenting up for many search inquiries.

Personalized results of Google were expanded in February, and exposed iGoogle in May. Yahoo added query alteration devices such as Search Assist for users that are by now found in Google Suggest and as well in Ask3D. There are two sides of each coin, nevertheless. On the one side are SEOs’ worries about no longer having universal manage over the search results page. Secondly this is the fact that this might also push search advertisers to think more on marketing side.

To sum up, we can say that 2007 was a year of bang on internet marketing and the search industry turned matured.

Great news for Affiliate Marketers! Microsoft adCenter has recently exposed its new Affiliate Program. Microsoft Affiliate Program another effective way to make money online such as Google’s AdSense, Commission Junction, Yahoo Publisher Network and others. For every advertiser you refer to adCenter, Microsoft will pay a bounty of $35 per sign up (according to some reports). This is purely a referral program where new advertiser brought to Microsoft Pay-Per-Click advertisement program will be rewarded.

You can now make money by spreading the word and referring new advertisers to adCenter, via Affiliate Network. Microsoft Network comprises of all affiliate opportunities. We could see two major services offered to generate profit are MSN AdCenter and Windows Live OneCare. Over the next few months Microsoft as well plans to add more products and services to the program. If you are beginner at paid search, it’s a brilliant option to test out the service without losing any bucks.

“This program is a clear win-win for Microsoft and affiliate marketers.” said Linda Buquet, President of 5 Star Affiliate Programs. “Having an adCenter affiliate program will help expand Microsoft’s reach in the advertising community and will offer affiliate partners the opportunity to share the revenue. We are proud to have Microsoft join the 5 Star family of high integrity affiliate programs.” she said.

Although Microsoft adCenter is an advertising platform that enables businesses to generate, manage and optimize search engine marketing campaigns, the domain name could be of concern. As it actually has not yet gained drive and not such huge marketing push is seen. Anyhow, the offer is especially been designed for the sites, which concentrates on Internet marketing, Search engine marketing, web development and pays per referral sale on new US based advertisers.
