<p align="justify">If you have a website or blog, or if you work with anything related to the Internet, you’ll certainly need to know a bit about search engine optimization (SEO). A good way to get started is to familiarize yourself with the most common terms of the trade, and below you’ll find 20 of them. (For those who already know SEO, consider this post as a refresher!).</p>
<p align="justify">1. <strong>SEM</strong>: Stands for Search Engine Marketing, and as the name implies it involves marketing services or products via search engines. SEM is divided into two main pillars: SEO and PPC. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it is the practice of optimizing websites to make their pages appear in the organic search results. PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click, and it is the practice of purchasing clicks from search engines. The clicks come from sponsored listings in the search results.</p>
<p align="justify">2. <strong>Backlink</strong>: Also called inlink or simply link, it is an hyperlink on another website pointing back to your own website. Backlinks are important for SEO because they affect directly the PageRank of any web page, influencing its search rankings.</p>
<p align="justify">3. <strong>PageRank</strong>: PageRank is an algorithm that Google uses to estimate the relative important of pages around the web. The basic idea behind the algorithm is the fact that a link from page A to page B can be seen as a vote of trust from page A to page B. The higher the number of links (weighted to their value) to a page, therefore, the higher the probability that such page is important.</p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">4. <strong>Linkbait</strong>: A linkbait is a piece of web content published on a website or blog with the goal of attracting as many backlinks as possible (in order to improve one’s search rankings). Usually it’s a written piece, but it can also be a video, a picture, a quiz or anything else. A classic example of linkbait are the “Top 10? lists that tend to become popular on social bookmarking sites.</p>
<p align="justify">5. <strong>Link farm</strong>. A link farm is a group of websites where every website links to every other website, with the purpose of artificially increasing the PageRank of all the sites in the farm. This practice was effective in the early days of search engines, but today they are seeing as a spamming technique (and thus can get you penalized).</p>
<p align="justify">6. <strong>Anchor text</strong>: The anchor text of a backlink is the text that is clickable on the web page. Having keyword rich anchor texts help with SEO because Google will associate these keywords with the content of your website. If you have a weight loss blog, for instance, it would help your search rankings if some of your backlinks had “weight loss” as their anchor texts.</p>
<p align="justify">7. <strong>NoFollow</strong>: The nofollow is a link attribute used by website owners to signal to Google that they don’t endorse the website they are linking to. This can happen either when the link is created by the users themselves (e.g., blog comments), or when the link was paid for (e.g., sponsors and advertisers). When Google sees the nofollow attribute it will basically not count that link for the PageRank and search algorithms.</p>
<p align="justify">8. <strong>Link Sculpting</strong>: By using the nofollow attribute strategically webmasters were able to channel the flow of PageRank within their websites, thus increasing the search rankings of desired pages. This practice is no longer effective as Google recently change how it handles the nofollow attribute.</p>
<p align="justify">9. <strong>Title Tag</strong>: The title tag is literally the title of a web page, and it’s one of the most important factors inside Google’s search algorithm. Ideally your title tag should be unique and contain the main keywords of your page. You can see the title tag of any web page on top of the browser while navigating it.</p>
<p align="justify">10. <strong>Meta Tags</strong>: Like the title tag, meta tags are used to give search engines more information regarding the content of your pages. The meta tags are placed inside the HEAD section of your HTML code, and thus are not visible to human visitors.</p>
<p align="justify">11. <strong>Search Algorithm</strong>: Google’s search algorithm is used to find the most relevant web pages for any search query. The algorithm considers over 200 factors (according to Google itself), including the PageRank value, the title tag, the meta tags, the content of the website, the age of the domain and so on.</p>
<p align="justify">12. <strong>SERP</strong>: Stands for Search Engine Results Page. It’s basically the page you’ll get when you search for a specific keyword on Google or on other search engines. The amount of search traffic your website will receive depends on the rankings it will have inside the SERPs.</p>
<p align="justify">13. <strong>Sandbox</strong>: Google basically has a separate index, the sandbox, where it places all newly discovered websites. When websites are on the sandbox, they won’t appear in the search results for normal search queries. Once Google verifies that the website is legitimate, it will move it out of the sandbox and into the main index.</p>
<p align="justify">14. <strong>Keyword Density</strong>: To find the keyword density of any particular page you just need to divide the number of times that keyword is used by the total number of words in the page. Keyword density used to be an important SEO factor, as the early algorithms placed a heavy emphasis on it. This is not the case anymore.</p>
<p align="justify">15. <strong>Keyword Stuffing</strong>: Since keyword density was an important factor on the early search algorithms, webmasters started to game the system by artificially inflating the keyword density inside their websites. This is called keyword stuffing. These days this practice won’t help you, and it can also get you penalized.</p>
<p align="justify">16. <strong>Cloaking</strong>. This technique involves making the same web page show different content to search engines and to human visitors. The purpose is to get the page ranked for specific keywords, and then use the incoming traffic to promote unrelated products or services. This practice is considering spamming and can get you penalized (if not banned) on most search engines.</p>
<p align="justify">17. <strong>Web Crawler</strong>: Also called search bot or spider, it’s a computer program that browses the web on behalf of search engines, trying to discover new links and new pages. This is the first step on the indexation process.</p>
<p align="justify">18. <strong>Duplicate Content</strong>: Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar. You should avoid having duplicate content on your website because it can get you penalized.</p>
<p align="justify">19. <strong>Canonical URL</strong>: Canonicalization is a process for converting data that has more than one possible representation into a “standard” canonical representation. A canonical URL, therefore, is the standard URL for accessing a specific page within your website. For instance, the canonical version of your domain might be http://www.domain.com instead of http://domain.com.</p>
<p align="justify">20. <strong>Robots.txt</strong>: This is nothing more than a file, placed in the root of the domain, that is used to inform search bots about the structure of the website. For instance, via the robots.txt file it’s possible to block specific search robots and to restrict the access to specific folders of section inside the website.</p>

<p><!--adsense--></p>
<p align="justify">1. If you absolutely MUST use Java script drop down menus, image maps or image links, be sure to put text links somewhere on the page for the spiders to follow. </p>
<p align="justify">2. Content is king, so be sure to have good, well-written and unique content that will focus on your primary keyword or keyword phrase. </p>
<p align="justify">3. If content is king, then links are queen. Build a network of quality backlinks using your keyword phrase as the link. Remember, if there is no good, logical reason for that site to link to you, you don’t want the link. </p>
<p align="justify">4. Don’t be obsessed with PageRank. It is just one isty bitsy part of the ranking algorithm. A site with lower PR can actually outrank one with a higher PR. </p>
<p align="justify">5. Be sure you have a unique, keyword focused Title tag on every page of your site. And, if you MUST have the name of your company in it, put it at the end. Unless you are a major brand name that is a household name, your business name will probably get few searches. <br />6. Fresh content can help improve your rankings. Add new, useful content to your pages on a regular basis. Content freshness adds relevancy to your site in the eyes of the search engines.</p>
<p align="justify">7. Be sure links to your site and within your site use your keyword phrase. In other words, if your target is “blue widgets” then link to “blue widgets” instead of a “Click here” link. </p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">8. Focus on search phrases, not single keywords, and put your location in your text (“our Palm Springs store” not “our store”) to help you get found in local searches. </p>
<p align="justify">9. Don’t design your web site without considering SEO. Make sure your web designer understands your expectations for organic SEO. Doing a retrofit on your shiny new Flash-based site after it is built won’t cut it. Spiders can crawl text, not Flash or images. </p>
<p align="justify">10. Use keywords and keyword phrases appropriately in text links, image ALT attributes and even your domain name. </p>
<p align="justify">11. Check for canonicalization issues &#8211; www and non-www domains. Decide which you want to use and 301 redirect the other to it. In other words, if http://www.domain.com is your preference, then http://domain.com should redirect to it. </p>
<p align="justify">12. Check the link to your home page throughout your site. Is index.html appended to your domain name? If so, you’re splitting your links. Outside links go to http://www.domain.com and internal links go to http://www.domain.com/index.html.</p>
<p align="justify">Ditch the index.html or default.php or whatever the page is and always link back to your domain. </p>
<p align="justify">13. Frames, Flash and AJAX all share a common problem &#8211; you can’t link to a single page. It’s either all or nothing. Don’t use Frames at all and use Flash and AJAX sparingly for best SEO results. </p>
<p align="justify">14. Your URL file extension doesn’t matter. You can use .html, .htm, .asp, .php, etc. and it won’t make a difference as far as your SEO is concerned. </p>
<p align="justify">15. Got a new web site you want spidered? Submitting through Google’s regular submission form can take weeks. The quickest way to get your site spidered is by getting a link to it through another quality site. </p>
<p align="justify">16. If your site content doesn’t change often, your site needs a blog because search spiders like fresh text. Blog at least three time a week with good, fresh content to feed those little crawlers. </p>
<p align="justify">17. When link building, think quality, not quantity. One single, good, authoritative link can do a lot more for you than a dozen poor quality links, which can actually hurt you. </p>
<p align="justify">18. Search engines want natural language content. Don’t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won’t work. Search engines look at how many times a term is in your content and if it is abnormally high, will count this against you rather than for you. </p>
<p align="justify">19. Not only should your links use keyword anchor text, but the text around the links should also be related to your keywords. In other words, surround the link with descriptive text. </p>
<p align="justify">20. If you are on a shared server, do a blacklist check to be sure you’re not on a proxy with a spammer or banned site. Their negative notoriety could affect your own rankings. </p>
<p align="justify">21. Be aware that by using services that block domain ownership information when you register a domain, Google might see you as a potential spammer. </p>
<p align="justify">22. When optimizing your blog posts, optimize your post title tag independently from your blog title. </p>
<p align="justify">23. The bottom line in SEO is Text, Links, Popularity and Reputation. </p>
<p align="justify">24. Make sure your site is easy to use. This can influence your link building ability and popularity and, thus, your ranking. </p>
<p align="justify">25. Give link love, Get link love. Don’t be stingy with linking out. That will encourage others to link to you. </p>
<p align="justify">26. Search engines like unique content that is also quality content. There can be a difference between unique content and quality content. Make sure your content is both. </p>
<p align="justify">27. If you absolutely MUST have your main page as a splash page that is all Flash or one big image, place text and navigation links below the fold. </p>
<p align="justify">28. Some of your most valuable links might not appear in web sites at all but be in the form of e-mail communications such as newletters and zines. </p>
<p align="justify">29. You get NOTHING from paid links except a few clicks unless the links are embedded in body text and NOT obvious sponsored links. </p>
<p align="justify">30. Links from .edu domains are given nice weight by the search engines. Run a search for possible non-profit .edu sites that are looking for sponsors. </p>
<p align="justify">31. Give them something to talk about. Linkbaiting is simply good content. </p>
<p align="justify">32. Give each page a focus on a single keyword phrase. Don’t try to optimize the page for several keywords at once.</p>
<p align="justify">33. SEO is useless if you have a weak or non-existent call to action. Make sure your call to action is clear and present.</p>
<p align="justify">34. SEO is not a one-shot process. The search landscape changes daily, so expect to work on your optimization daily. </p>
<p align="justify">35. Cater to influential bloggers and authority sites who might link to you, your images, videos, podcasts, etc. or ask to reprint your content. </p>
<p align="justify">36. Get the owner or CEO blogging. It’s priceless! CEO influence on a blog is incredible as this is the VOICE of the company. Response from the owner to reader comments will cause your credibility to skyrocket! </p>
<p align="justify">37. Optimize the text in your RSS feed just like you should with your posts and web pages. Use descriptive, keyword rich text in your title and description. </p>
<p align="justify">38. Use captions with your images. As with newspaper photos, place keyword rich captions with your images. </p>
<p align="justify">39. Pay attention to the context surrounding your images. Images can rank based on text that surrounds them on the page. Pay attention to keyword text, headings, etc. </p>
<p align="justify">40. You’re better off letting your site pages be found naturally by the crawler. Good global navigation and linking will serve you much better than relying only on an XML Sitemap. </p>
<p align="justify">41. There are two ways to NOT see Google’s Personalized Search results: </p>
<p align="justify">(1) Log out of Google</p>
<p align="justify">(2) Append &amp;pws=0 to the end of your search URL in the search bar </p>
<p align="justify">42. Links (especially deep links) from a high PageRank site are golden. High PR indicates high trust, so the back links will carry more weight. </p>
<p align="justify">43. Use absolute links. Not only will it make your on-site link navigation less prone to problems (like links to and from https pages), but if someone scrapes your content, you’ll get backlink juice out of it. </p>
<p align="justify">44. See if your hosting company offers “Sticky” forwarding when moving to a new domain. This allows temporary forwarding to the new domain from the old, retaining the new URL in the address bar so that users can gradually get used to the new URL.</p>
<p align="justify">45. Understand social marketing. It IS part of SEO. The more you understand about sites like Digg, Yelp, del.icio.us, Facebook, etc., the better you will be able to compete in search. </p>
<p align="justify">46. To get the best chance for your videos to be found by the crawlers, create a video sitemap and list it in your Google Webmaster Central account. </p>
<p align="justify">47. Videos that show up in Google blended search results don’t just come from YouTube. Be sure to submit your videos to other quality video sites like Metacafe, AOL, MSN and Yahoo to name a few. </p>
<p align="justify">48. Surround video content on your pages with keyword rich text. The search engines look at surrounding content to define the usefulness of the video for the query. </p>
<p align="justify">49. Use the words “image” or “picture” in your photo ALT descriptions and captions. A lot of searches are for a keyword plus one of those words. </p>
<p align="justify">50. Enable “Enhanced image search” in your Google Webmaster Central account. Images are a big part of the new blended search results, so allowing Google to find your photos will help your SEO efforts. </p>
<p align="justify">51. Add viral components to your web site or blog &#8211; reviews, sharing functions, ratings, visitor comments, etc. </p>
<p align="justify">52. Broaden your range of services to include video, podcasts, news, social content and so forth. SEO is not about 10 blue links anymore. </p>
<p align="justify">53. When considering a link purchase or exchange, check the cache date of the page where your link will be located in Google. Search for “cache:URL” where you substitute “URL” for the actual page. The newer the cache date the better. If the page isn’t there or the cache date is more than an month old, the page isn’t worth much. </p>
<p align="justify">54. If you have pages on your site that are very similar (you are concerned about duplicate content issues) and you want to be sure the correct one is included in the search engines, place the URL of your preferred page in your sitemaps. </p>
<p align="justify">55. Check your server headers. Search for “check server header” to find free online tools for this. You want to be sure your URLs report a “200 OK” status or “301 Moved Permanently ” for redirects. If the status shows anything else, check to be sure your URLs are set up properly and used consistently throughout your site.</p>

<p align="justify">1. Build a &#8220;101 list&#8221;. These get Dugg all the time, and often become &#8220;authority documents&#8221;. People can&#8217;t resist linking to these (hint, hint).</p>
<p align="justify">2. Create <em>10 easy tips to help you [insert topic here]</em> articles. Again, these are exceptionally easy to link to.</p>
<p align="justify">3. Create extensive resource lists for a specific topic (see <a href="http://www.stuntdubl.com/category/mr-ploppy/">Mr Ploppy</a> for inspiration).</p>
<p align="justify">4. Create a list of the top 10 myths for a specific category.</p>
<p align="justify">5. Create a list of gurus/experts. If you impress the people listed well enough, or find a way to make your project look somewhat official, the gurus may end up linking to your site or saying thanks. (Sometimes flattery is the easiest way to strike up a good relationship with an &#8220;authority&#8221;.)</p>
<h6 align="justify">Developing Authority &amp; Being Easy to Link At</h6>
<p align="justify">6. Make your content easy to understand so many people can understand and spread your message. (It&#8217;s an accessibility thing.)</p>
<p align="justify">7. Put some effort in to minimize grammatical or spelling errors, especially if you need authoritative people like librarians to link to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">8. Have an easily accessible privacy policy and about section so your site seems more trustworthy. Including a picture of yourself may also help build your authority.</p>
<h6 align="justify">PPC as a Link Building Tool</h6>
<p align="justify">9. Buy relevant traffic with a pay per click campaign. Relevant traffic will get your site more visitors and brand exposure. When people come to your site, regardless of the channel in which they found it, there is a possibility that they will link to you.</p>
<h6 align="justify">News &amp; Syndication</h6>
<p align="justify">10. Syndicate an article at <a href="http://ezinearticles.com/">EzineArticles</a>, <a href="http://www.goarticles.com/">GoArticles</a>, <a href="http://www.isnare.com/">iSnare</a>, etc. The great thing about good article sites is that their article pages actually rank highly and send highly qualified traffic.</p>
<p align="justify">11. Submit an article to industry news site. Have an SEO site? Write an article and submit to WebProNews. Have a site about BLANK? Submit to BLANKinformationalsite.com.</p>
<p align="justify">12. Syndicate a press release. Take the time to make it <a href="http://www.toprankblog.com/2005/10/lowdown-on-press-release-optimization/">GOOD (compelling, newsworthy)</a>. Email it to some handpicked journalists and bloggers. Personalize the email message. For good measure, submit it to <a href="http://www.prweb.com/">PRWeb</a>, <a href="http://www.prleap.com/">PRLeap</a>, etc.</p>
<p align="justify">13. Track who picks up your articles or press releases. Offer them exclusive news or content.</p>
<p align="justify">14. Trade articles with other webmasters.</p>
<p align="justify">15. Email a few friends when you have important relevant news asking them for their feedback and/or if they would mind referencing it if they find your information useful.</p>
<p align="justify">16. Write about, and link to, companies with &#8220;in the news&#8221; pages. They link back to stories and blog posts which cover their developments. This is obviously easiest if you have a news section or blog. Do a Google search for [your industry + "in the news"].</p>
<p align="justify">17. Perform surveys and studies that make people feel important. If you can make other people feel important they will help do your marketing for you for free. Salary.com did a study on how underpaid mothers were, and they got <a href="http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fswz.salary.com%2Fmomsalarywizard%2Flayoutscripts%2Fmswl_newsearch.asp&amp;ei=UTF-8&amp;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&amp;fr=moz2">many high quality links</a>.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Directories, Meme Trackers &amp; Social Bookmarking</h6>
<p align="justify">18. This tip is an oldie but goodie: submit your site to <a href="http://dmoz.org/">DMOZ</a> and other directories that allow free submissions.</p>
<p align="justify">19. Submit your site to paid directories. Another oldie. Just remember that <a href="http://www.linkbuildingblog.com/2005/10/quality_directo.html">quality matters</a>.</p>
<p align="justify">20. Create your own topical directory about your field of interest. Obviously link to your own site, deeplinking to important content where possible. Of course, if you make it into a truly useful resource, it will attract links on its own.</p>
<p align="justify">21. Tag related sites on sites like <a href="http://del.icio.us/">Del.icio.us</a>. If people find the sites you tag to be interesting, emotionally engaging, or timely they may follow the trail back to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">22. If you create something that is of great quality make sure you ask a few friends to tag it for you. If your site gets on the front page of <a href="http://www.digg.com/">Digg</a> or on the <a href="http://del.icio.us/popular/">Del.icio.us popular list</a>, hundreds more bloggers will see your site, and potentially link to it.</p>
<p align="justify">23. Look at meme trackers to see what ideas are spreading. If you write about popular spreading ideas with plenty of original content (and link to some of the original resources), your site may get listed as a source on the meme tracker site.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Local &amp; Business Links</h6>
<p align="justify">24. Join the Better Business Bureau.</p>
<p align="justify">25. Get a link from your local chamber of commerce.</p>
<p align="justify">26. Submit your link to relevant city and state governmental resources. (Easier in some countries than in others.)</p>
<p align="justify">27. List your site at the local library&#8217;s Web site.</p>
<p align="justify">28. See if your manufacturers or retailers or other business partners might be willing to link to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">29. Develop business relationships with non-competing businesses in the same field. Leverage these relationships online and off, by recommending each other via links and distributing each other&#8217;s business cards.</p>
<p align="justify">30. Launch an affiliate program. Most of the links you pick up will not have SEO value, but the added exposure will almost always lead to additional &#8220;normal&#8221; links.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Easy Free Links</h6>
<p align="justify">31. Depending on your category and offer, you will find <a href="http://www.craigslist.org/">Craigslist</a> to be a cheap or free classified service.</p>
<p align="justify">32. It is pretty easy to ask or answer questions on <a href="http://answers.yahoo.com/">Yahoo! Answers</a> and provide links to relevant resources.</p>
<p align="justify">33. It is pretty easy to ask or answer questions on <a href="http://groups.google.com/">Google Groups</a> and provide links to relevant resources.</p>
<p align="justify">34. If you run a fairly reputable company, create a page about it in the <a href="http://www.wikipedia.org/">Wikipedia</a> or in topic specific wikis. If it is hard to list your site directly, try to add links to other pages that link to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">35. It takes about 15 minutes to set up a topical <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/">Squidoo</a> page, which you can use to look like an industry expert. Link to expert documents and popular useful tools in your fields, and also create a link back to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">36. Submit a story to <a href="http://www.digg.com/">Digg</a> that links to an article on your site. You can also submit other content and have some of its link authority flow back to your profile page.</p>
<p align="justify">37. If you publish an RSS feed and your content is useful and regularly updated, some people will syndicate your RSS content (and some of those will provide links… unfortunately, some will not).</p>
<p align="justify">38. Most forums allow members to leave signature links or personal profile links. If you make quality contributions some people will follow these links and potentially read your site, link at your site, and/or buy your products.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Have a Big Heart for Reviews</h6>
<p align="justify">39. Most brands are not well established online, so if your site has much authority, your review related content often ranks well.</p>
<p align="justify">40. Review relevant products on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/">Amazon.com</a>. We have seen this draw in direct customer enquiries and secondary links.</p>
<p align="justify">41. Create product lists on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/">Amazon.com</a> that review top products and also mention your background (LINK!).</p>
<p align="justify">42. Review related sites on <a href="http://www.alexa.com/">Alexa</a> to draw in related traffic streams.</p>
<p align="justify">43. Review products and services on shopping search engines like <a href="http://www.epinions.com/">ePinions</a> to help build your authority.</p>
<p align="justify">44. If you buy a product or service you really like and are good at leaving testimonials, many of those turn into links. Two testimonial writing tips — make them believable, and be specific where possible.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Blogs &amp; the Blogosphere</h6>
<p align="justify">45. Start a blog. <em>Not</em> just for the sake of having one. Post regularly and post great content. Good execution is what gets the links.</p>
<p align="justify">46. Link to other blogs from your blog. Outbound links are one of the cheapest forms of marketing available. Many bloggers also track who is linking to them or where their traffic comes from, so linking to them is an easy way to get noticed by some of them.</p>
<p align="justify">47. Comment on other blogs. Most of these comments will not provide much direct search engine value, but if your comments are useful, insightful, and relevant they can drive direct traffic. They also help make the other bloggers become aware of you, and they may start reading your blog and/or linking to it.</p>
<p align="justify">48. <a href="http://www.technorati.com/">Technorati</a> tag pages rank well in Yahoo! and MSN, and to a lesser extent in Google. Even if your blog is fairly new you can have your posts featured on the <a href="http://www.technorati.com/">Technorati</a> tag pages by tagging your posts with relevant tags.</p>
<p align="justify">49. If you create a blog make sure you list it in a few of the <a href="http://blogs.botw.org/">best blog directories</a>.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Design as a Linking Element</h6>
<p align="justify">50. Web 2.0-ify your site. People love to link to anything with AJAX. Even in the narrowest of niches, there is some kind of useful functionality you can build with AJAX.</p>
<p align="justify">51. Validate and 508 your site. This (indirect) method makes your site more trustworthy and linkable, especially from governmental sites or design-oriented communities. There are even a few <a href="http://www.w3csites.com/">authoritative directories</a> of standards-compliant sites.</p>
<p align="justify">52. Order a beautiful CSS redesign. A nice design can get links from sites like <a href="http://cssvault.com/">CSS Vault</a>.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Hire Help</h6>
<p align="justify">53. Hire a publicist. Good old fashioned &#8216;PR&#8217; (not PageRank) can still work wonders. Andy Hagans now offers a <a href="http://www.andyhagans.com/link-baiting.php">link baiting publicity</a> service.</p>
<p align="justify">54. Hire a consultant. Yes, you can outsource link building. Just make sure to go with someone good. We recommend <a href="http://www.webuildpages.com/">WeBuildPages</a>, <a href="http://www.alliance-link.com/">Debra Mastaler</a> and, ahem, <a href="http://www.andyhagans.com/">Andy Hagans</a>.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Link Trading</h6>
<p align="justify">55. Swap some links. What?! Did we really just recommend reciprocal link building? Yes, on a small scale, and with <em>relevant</em> partners that will <em>send you traffic</em>. Stay away from the link trading hubs and networks.</p>
<p align="justify">56. In case you didn&#8217;t get the memo — when swapping links, try to get links from <a href="http://www.jimboykin.com/links-within-content-linking-to-content-a-rant/">within the content of relevant content pages</a>. Do not try to get links from pages that list hundreds of off topic link partners. Only seek link exchanges that you would consider pursuing even if search engines did not exist. Instead of thinking just about your topic when exchanging links, think about demographic audience sets.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Buying Sites, Renting Links &amp; Advertisements</h6>
<p align="justify">57. Rent some high quality links from a broker. <a href="http://www.text-link-ads.com/">Text Link Ads</a> is the most reputable firm in this niche.</p>
<p align="justify">58. Rent some high quality links directly from Web sites. Sometimes the most powerful rented links come <a href="http://www.jimboykin.com/buying-links-under-the-radar-so-matt-cant-find-them/">direct from sites not actively renting links</a>.</p>
<p align="justify">59. Become a sponsor. All sorts of charities, contests, and conferences link to their sponsors. This can be a great way to gain visibility, links, and a warm feeling in your heart.</p>
<p align="justify">60. Sell items on <a href="http://www.ebay.com/">eBay</a> and offer to donate the profits to a charity. Many charities will link both to the eBay auction and to your site.</p>
<p align="justify">61. Many search algorithms seem biased toward older established sites. It may be faster to buy an old site with a strong link profile, and link it to your own site, than to try to start building authority links from scratch.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Use the Courts (Proceed with Caution)</h6>
<p align="justify">62. <a href="http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20060317/1746252.shtml">Sue Google</a>.</p>
<p align="justify">63. Get sued by a company people hate. When Aaron was sued by Traffic Power, he got hundreds or thousands of links, including links from sites like <a href="http://www.wired.com/">Wired</a> and <a href="http://online.wsj.com/public/us">The Wall Street Journal</a>.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Freebies &amp; Giveaways</h6>
<p align="justify">64. Hold a contest. Contests make great link bait. A few-hundred-dollar prize can result in thousands of dollars worth of editorial quality links. Enough said.</p>
<p align="justify">65. Build a tool collection. Original and useful tools (and collections of tools) get a lot of link love. What do you think ranking for <a href="http://www.mortgagecalculator.org/">mortgage calculator</a> is worth?</p>
<p align="justify">66. Create and release open source site design templates for content management systems like WordPress. Don&#8217;t forget the &#8220;Designed by example.com&#8221; bit in the footer!</p>
<p align="justify">67. Offer free samples in exchange for feedback.</p>
<p align="justify">68. Release a Firefox extension. Make sure you have a download and/or support page on your site which people can link to.</p>
<h6 align="justify">Conferences &amp; Social Interaction</h6>
<p align="justify">69. It is easy to take pictures of important events and tell narratives about why they are important. Pictures of (drunk?) &#8220;celebrities&#8221; in your industry make great link bait.</p>
<p align="justify">70. Leverage new real world relationships into linking relationships. If you go to SEO related conferences, people like Tim Mayer, Matt Cutts, and Danny Sullivan are readily accessible. Similarly, in other industries, people who would normally seem inaccessible are exceptionally accessible at trade conferences. It is much easier to seem &#8220;real&#8221; in person. Once you create social relationships in person, it is easy to extend that onto the web.</p>
<p align="justify">71. Engaging, useful, and interesting interviews are an easy way to create original content. And they spread like wildfire.</p>

<p align="justify">Here is a list of 23 tips for getting top search engine rankings. Follow them in see the results :- </p>
<p align="justify">1) Increase your site&#8217;s link popularity by increasing your internal and incoming links. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Internal links &#8211; Cross link all your sites and important pages within each site. This will maximize the PageRank of all your pages within each web site. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Incoming links that you control &#8211; Create several small web sites related to your main site. Each site should only consist of a few pages. Then cross link them all together using the most important keywords. Don&#8217;t forget to include links back to the main site. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Incoming links that you don&#8217;t control: </div>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Ask sites that link to your competitors to link to your site. To find out which sites are linking to your competitors, visit a search engine and enter, &quot;link:&quot; followed by the competitors&#8217; domain name. <br />For example: </div>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code>link:www.yourcompetitor.com</code></p>
</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Exchange links with sites listed in the same category as yours in the major web directories, such as the <a href="http://search.yahoo.com/">Yahoo! Directory</a> and the <a href="http://dmoz.org/">Open Directory</a>. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Find sites that accept site submissions. Visit your favorite search engine and search for: </div>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code>&quot;add url&quot; &quot;your keywords&quot;</code></p>
</blockquote>
<div align="justify">Also try searching for the actual submission page using its page name. <br />For example: </div>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code>addurl.html, addsite.html, addlink.html, etc.</code></p>
</blockquote>
</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">2) Include a TITLE tag as the first META tag, directly after the HEAD tag.</p>
<p align="justify">3) Try to avoid <em>stop words</em> in your TITLE tag. Stop words (a, an, and, but, he, her, his, i, in, it, of, on, or, she, the, etc.) are common words and characters ignored by some search engines to enhance the speed and relevancy of their search results. </p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify">4) Include a META DESCRIPTION tag, directly after the TITLE tag. Include the most important keyword phrase for the web page as close to the beginning of the description as possible. </p>
<p align="justify">5) If you use a META REFRESH tag, make sure it is set to refresh after 30 seconds. </p>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code></code></p>
</blockquote>
<p align="justify">Some search engines consider pages that refreshes under 30 seconds as spam. I recommend using a JavaScript redirect tag, if you require a quicker page refresh. </p>
<p align="justify">6) Remove all other meta tags (author, date, etc.), unless you&#8217;re sure they are absolutely necessary. The only meta tags I ever use are the META DESCRIPTION and occasionally the META REFRESH tag. </p>
<p align="justify">7) Include a site map with links to all your pages. This will help search engines find and index all your pages. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Limit the number of links on a web page to 50. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">If you have more than 50 links, limit your links to your most important pages. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Include text on the page as some search engines, such as AltaVista, have been known to kick out links only pages. </div>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">8) Use one or more header tags in your main page body and include your most important keyword phrase/s. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use large header tags, such as </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to alter the appearance of the header tags to fit the look and feel of your site. For more information read this <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp">CSS tutorial</a>. </div>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">9) Check the first couple of lines of the first paragraph to see if it&#8217;s appropriate to be used as a description of your page. Many search engines utilize the first couple of sentences of the body text as the search results description, instead of the contents of the META DESCRIPTION tag. </p>
<p align="justify">10) Try to achieve an overall keyword density of 1-2%. </p>
<p align="justify">11) Try to achieve a minimum word count of 300 and a maximum of 750 words on each page. </p>
<p align="justify">12) Register a domain name with the exact keyword phrase you wish to target, using hyphens to separate the keywords. </p>
<p align="justify">For example, if the keyword phrase is &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; then register:    <br />search-engine-rankings.com </p>
<p align="justify">If the domain you want is unavailable, either try a different extension, such as .NET, .INFO, or .US, or add a keyword to the end (preferential) or beginning of the domain. </p>
<p align="justify">13) Name directories after your keyword phrases, using hyphens or underscores to separate the keywords. </p>
<p align="justify">For example, if an important keyword phrases is, &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; name your directory:    <br /><code>www.yoursite.com/search-engine-rankings/ or...      <br /><a href="http://www.yoursite.com/search_engine_rankings/">www.yoursite.com/search_engine_rankings/</a></code></p>
<p align="justify">14) Name web pages after your most important keyword phrase. Separate the keywords using hyphens or underscores. </p>
<p align="justify">For example, if the keyword phrase is &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; then name the page:    <br /><code>search-engine-rankings.html or...      <br />search_engine_rankings.html </code></p>
<p align="justify">15) Name your graphic files after keyword phrases. Again, separate the keywords using hyphens or underscores.<code> <br /></code>16) Include an ALT (alternative text) atrribute in image tags. Include the most important keyword phrases.<code></code></p>
<p align="justify">17) If you use an image map, include HTML links, as some search engines do not follow image map links. Plus image maps do not offer search engines any link text to index. So, try to avoid the use of image maps as they do not help with your search engine optimization efforts. </p>
<p align="justify">18) Use the longer or plural version of a keyword, where possible. Word stemming is a concept used by some search engines to return search results that include keywords that extend beyond what you searched for. </p>
<p align="justify">For example, a search with the keyword &quot;engine&quot; might return results for, &quot;engines,&quot; &quot;engineers,&quot; and &quot;engineering.&quot; If someone searches for the longer version of a word and your page only uses the short version, then your page will be excluded from the list of possible results. </p>
<p align="justify">19) Sprinkle a few uncommon keywords and synonyms in your main body text. Less popular keywords have less competition in the search engines. So your web page is has a greater chance of being listed amongst the top results. </p>
<p align="justify">20) Do not repeat keywords or keyword phrases over and over again on a web page, as this would be considered as spam by search engines. </p>
<p align="justify">21) Keep your pages as close to the root domain as possible. Do not set up more than 3 directory levels. <br />For example: <br /><code>www.yoursite.com/index.html (1st level - excellent) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/index.html (2nd level - Good) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/marketing/index.html (3rd level - OK) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/marketing/search/index.html (Too many levels down - search engines will find it difficult to find and index pages this far down)</code></p>
<p align="justify">22) If you have a persistent (on most or all of your pages) navigation bar at the side of each page, your table is almost certainly set up in such a way that it pushes your page&#8217;s body text down the HTML document. Search engines give prominence to keywords nearer the beginning of a HTML document. So, design your HTML table so that the navigation bar is placed after your main body text. </p>
<p align="justify">23) Move Javascript code to a separate file, or the end of the HTML document after your closing BODY or HTML tag. Yes, this technique actually works!</p>
<p align="justify">This procedure also reduces your file size, and therefore your download time. In addition, it allows you to reuse the code on other pages by simply link to the JavaScript file. Both of these techniques will move your important body text nearer to the top of the HTML document.</p>
<p align="justify">24) Although not always practical, you may like to try naming your cascading style sheet tags after keywords. <br />For example: <br /><code>.search { <br />color: #ff0000; <br />}</code></p>
<p align="justify">25) Use Robots.txt files instead of Robots meta tags, as some search engine robots do not recognize the tag. Visit <a href="http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/robots.html">The Web Robots Pages</a> for more information.</p>
<p align="justify">26) Do not use font size one (1) text as the default text size. Many search engines consider tiny text to be spam. It&#8217;s OK to use some font size one text.</p>
<p align="justify">27) Do not participate in link farms or link exchange programs. Search engines consider link farms and link exchange programs as spam, as they have only one purpose &#8211; to artificially inflate a site&#8217;s link popularity, by exchanging links with other participants. <br />Do not confuse link farms and link exchange programs with reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking is the exchange of links with individual sites, and is certainly an accepted technique for improving your site&#8217;s link popularity.</p>

<p align="justify">How to make a girl fall in love with you, all your answers here!</p>
<p align="justify">How to make a girl fall in love with you is one of the most important questions you can answer. And which girl am I talking about? Well, Google of course. Some simple tips as to how to make a girl fall in love with your blog, the Google girl .</p>
<h3><strong>Some Simple SEO Tips</strong></h3>
<p align="justify"><strong>What Kind of Girl Are You After? </strong></p>
<p align="justify">Decide who your audience are, what they will want to read about, what key terms they will search to find that reading material and then optimise your blog for those terms and blog about it. </p>
<p align="justify"><strong>Chose a Cool Name or Use Your Own Name</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Ideally buy a URL with the keyword in it that you want the blog to rank for, or your name. Google looks at the works that link to your blog, and you rank for those works. People inevitably link to your blog by its domain name, and if that is one of the words that you want to rank for, then you will rank for that more easily. Google also places a lot of emphasis on domain names. If you are building a personal brand then buy a domain name with your name in it. </p>
<p align="justify"><strong>Title Your Blog</strong></p>
<p align="justify">In the HTML code of your blog there is what is called a title tag. This is the Title tag on Murray Newlands.com &#8220;Affiliate Marketing Blog &amp; Social Media Marketing Blog&#8221;. This should be the key term that you want your blog to rank for. I want my blog to rank for affiliate marketing blog, affiliate marketing affiliate blog, social media marketing and social media marketing blog. My choice of Title tag helps my site to rank for those terms. </p>
<p align="justify"><strong>Blog Posts: a love letter to her</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>
<div align="justify">Blog about what you want to be found for! </div>

<li>
<div align="justify">Think of title for your posts and then use Google external tool to see how much traffic is available on the terms you are looking for. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Do a search on Google for title:&#8221;key term from Google external&#8221; to see what the competition on that term is. If you are optimising a post for a key term you will put the term in the title: therefore the more people with the key term in the title the more competitive it is. and the harder it is to rank for that term. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use the key term in the first paragraph of the post. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use the key term several times in the post. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use the key term at the end of the post.</div>

<p align="justify"><strong>Link Love for to get the Girls to like you.</strong></p>

<div align="justify">Google makes sites rank for the words that people use as terms to link to that site from. Link to my site using the words &#8220;Affiliate blog&#8221; and I will start to rank for that term. Link to me for the term Obama and I will start to rank for the word Obama. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Link to other blogs from your posts and they are more likely to do the same back. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">If you are going to link to my blog please write about me as said Murraynewlands.com Affiliate blog and link on the term affiliate blog, or celebrity blogger, or affiliate marketing. Why? Because I am currently trying to rank for those terms. Not sure how I want you to link to me? A &#8211; ask me, B- look at the key terms in my title bar. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Know what terms you want to rank for and ask people to link to you from those words. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">If you want to rank for a term that is not in your title description do a blog post about that term and then ask people to link to your site using that word to that post. </div>
<p align="justify">I.E., please link to me using the words &#8220;Celebrity blogger&#8221; to the post to this post <a href="http://www.murraynewlands.com/index.php/2009/07/celebrity-blogger-celebrity-blogger-murray-newlands/" rel="nofollow">http://www.murraynewlands.com/index.php/2009/07/celebrity-blogger-celebrity-blogger-murray-newlands/</a></p>

<div align="justify">Teach this to your friends, all of them. </div>

<p align="justify">The more sites you link with and teach better seo and the more they link to you the better your seo will be and the more your blog will grow.</p>
<p align="justify">For this post I chose a fun title &#8220;how to make a girl fall in love with you&#8221;. It is off topic for my blog but &#8220;how to make a girl fall in love with you&#8221; is a search phrase with lots of traffic and comparatively few intitle competitors.</p>

<p align="justify">1) Increase your site&#8217;s link popularity by increasing your internal and incoming links. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Internal links &#8211; Cross link all your sites and important pages within each site. This will maximize the PageRank of all your pages within each web site. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Incoming links that you control &#8211; Create several small web sites related to your main site. Each site should only consist of a few pages. Then cross link them all together using the most important keywords. Don&#8217;t forget to include links back to the main site. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Incoming links that you don&#8217;t control: </div>
<ul>
<li>
</blockquote>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Exchange links with sites listed in the same category as yours in the major web directories, such as the <a href="http://search.yahoo.com/">Yahoo! Directory</a> and the <a href="http://dmoz.org/">Open Directory</a>. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Find sites that accept site submissions. Visit your favorite search engine and search for: </div>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code>&quot;add url&quot; &quot;your keywords&quot;</code></p>
</blockquote>
<div align="justify">Also try searching for the actual submission page using its page name. <br />For example: </div>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code>addurl.html, addsite.html, addlink.html, etc.</code></p>
</blockquote>
</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">2) Include a TITLE tag as the first META tag, directly after the HEAD tag.<code> <br /></code>3) Try to avoid <em>stop words</em> in your TITLE tag. Stop words (a, an, and, but, he, her, his, i, in, it, of, on, or, she, the, etc.) are common words and characters ignored by some search engines to enhance the speed and relevancy of their search results. <br />4) Include a META DESCRIPTION tag, directly after the TITLE tag. Include the most important keyword phrase for the web page as close to the beginning of the description as possible. <br />5) If you use a META REFRESH tag, make sure it is set to refresh after 30 seconds. </p>
<blockquote><p align="justify"><code></code></p>
</blockquote>
<p align="justify">Some search engines consider pages that refreshes under 30 seconds as spam. I recommend using a JavaScript redirect tag, if you require a quicker page refresh. <br />6) Remove all other meta tags (author, date, etc.), unless you&#8217;re sure they are absolutely necessary. The only meta tags I ever use are the META DESCRIPTION and occasionally the META REFRESH tag. <br />7) Include a site map with links to all your pages. This will help search engines find and index all your pages. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Limit the number of links on a web page to 50. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">If you have more than 50 links, limit your links to your most important pages. </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Include text on the page as some search engines, such as AltaVista, have been known to kick out links only pages. </div>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">8) Use one or more header tags in your main page body and include your most important keyword phrase/s. </p>
<ul>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use large header tags, such as </div>
</li>
<li>
<div align="justify">Use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to alter the appearance of the header tags to fit the look and feel of your site. For more information read this <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp">CSS tutorial</a>. </div>
</li>
</ul>
<p align="justify">9) Check the first couple of lines of the first paragraph to see if it&#8217;s appropriate to be used as a description of your page. Many search engines utilize the first couple of sentences of the body text as the search results description, instead of the contents of the META DESCRIPTION tag. <br />10) Try to achieve an overall keyword density of 1-2%. <br />11) Try to achieve a minimum word count of 300 and a maximum of 750 words on each page. <br />12) Register a domain name with the exact keyword phrase you wish to target, using hyphens to separate the keywords. <br />For example, if the keyword phrase is &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; then register: <br />search-engine-rankings.com <br />If the domain you want is unavailable, either try a different extension, such as .NET, .INFO, or .US, or add a keyword to the end (preferential) or beginning of the domain. <br />13) Name directories after your keyword phrases, using hyphens or underscores to separate the keywords. <br />For example, if an important keyword phrases is, &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; name your directory: <br /><code>www.yoursite.com/search-engine-rankings/ or... <br />www.yoursite.com/search_engine_rankings/</code> <br />14) Name web pages after your most important keyword phrase. Separate the keywords using hyphens or underscores. <br />For example, if the keyword phrase is &quot;search engine rankings,&quot; then name the page: <br /><code>search-engine-rankings.html or... <br />search_engine_rankings.html <br /></code>15) Name your graphic files after keyword phrases. Again, separate the keywords using hyphens or underscores.<code> <br /></code>16) Include an ALT (alternative text) atrribute in image tags. Include the most important keyword phrases.<code> <br /></code>17) If you use an image map, include HTML links, as some search engines do not follow image map links. Plus image maps do not offer search engines any link text to index. So, try to avoid the use of image maps as they do not help with your search engine optimization efforts. <br />18) Use the longer or plural version of a keyword, where possible. Word stemming is a concept used by some search engines to return search results that include keywords that extend beyond what you searched for. <br />For example, a search with the keyword &quot;engine&quot; might return results for, &quot;engines,&quot; &quot;engineers,&quot; and &quot;engineering.&quot; If someone searches for the longer version of a word and your page only uses the short version, then your page will be excluded from the list of possible results. <br />19) Sprinkle a few uncommon keywords and synonyms in your main body text. Less popular keywords have less competition in the search engines. So your web page is has a greater chance of being listed amongst the top results. <br />20) Do not repeat keywords or keyword phrases over and over again on a web page, as this would be considered as spam by search engines. <br />21) Keep your pages as close to the root domain as possible. Do not set up more than 3 directory levels. <br />For example: <br /><code>www.yoursite.com/index.html (1st level - excellent) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/index.html (2nd level - Good) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/marketing/index.html (3rd level - OK) <br />www.yoursite.com/html/marketing/search/index.html (Too many levels down - search engines will find it difficult to find and index pages this far down) <br /></code>22) If you have a persistent (on most or all of your pages) navigation bar at the side of each page, your table is almost certainly set up in such a way that it pushes your page&#8217;s body text down the HTML document. Search engines give prominence to keywords nearer the beginning of a HTML document. So, design your HTML table so that the navigation bar is placed after your main body text. <br />23) Move Javascript code to a separate file, or the end of the HTML document after your closing BODY or HTML tag. Yes, this technique actually works! <br />Read related articles listed in the left. <br /><code></code>This procedure also reduces your file size, and therefore your download time. In addition, it allows you to reuse the code on other pages by simply link to the JavaScript file. Both of these techniques will move your important body text nearer to the top of the HTML document. <br />24) Although not always practical, you may like to try naming your cascading style sheet tags after keywords. <br />For example: <br /><code>.search { <br />color: #ff0000; <br />} <br /></code>25) Use Robots.txt files instead of Robots meta tags, as some search engine robots do not recognize the tag. Visit <a href="http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/robots.html">The Web Robots Pages</a> for more information. <br />26) Do not use font size one (1) text as the default text size. Many search engines consider tiny text to be spam. It&#8217;s OK to use some font size one text. <br />27) Do not participate in link farms or link exchange programs.

<p align="justify">Everyone loves a good tip, right? Here are <a href="http://www.searchenginejournal.com/55-quick-seo-tips-even-your-mother-would-love/6760/">55 quick tips for search engine optimization</a> that even your mother could use to get cooking. Well, not my mother, but you get my point. Most folks with some web design and beginner SEO knowledge should be able to take these to the bank without any problem.</p>
Remember, if there is no good, logical reason for that site to link to you, you don&#8217;t want the link. </p>
<p align="justify">4. Don&#8217;t be obsessed with PageRank. It is just one isty bitsy part of the ranking algorithm. A site with lower PR can actually outrank one with a higher PR. </p>
<p align="justify">
In other words, if your target is &#8220;blue widgets&#8221; then link to &#8220;blue widgets&#8221; instead of a &#8220;Click here&#8221; link. </p>
<p align="justify">8. Focus on search phrases, not single keywords, and put your location in your text (&#8220;our Palm Springs store&#8221; not &#8220;our store&#8221;) to help you get found in local searches. </p>
<p align="justify">9. Don&#8217;t design your web site without considering SEO. Make sure your web designer understands your expectations for organic SEO. Doing a retrofit on your shiny new Flash-based site after it is built won&#8217;t cut it.
If so, you&#8217;re splitting your links. Outside links go to http://www.domain.com and internal links go to http://www.domain.com/index.html.</p>
<p align="justify">Ditch the index.html or default.php or whatever the page is and always link back to your domain. </p>
<p align="justify">13. Frames, Flash and AJAX all share a common problem &#8211; you can&#8217;t link to a single page. It&#8217;s either all or nothing. Don&#8217;t use Frames at all and use Flash and AJAX sparingly for best SEO results. </p>
<p align="justify">14. Your URL file extension doesn&#8217;t matter. You can use .html, .htm, .asp, .php, etc. and it won&#8217;t make a difference as far as your SEO is concerned. </p>
<p align="justify">15. Got a new web site you want spidered? Submitting through Google&#8217;s regular submission form can take weeks. The quickest way to get your site spidered is by getting a link to it through another quality site. </p>
<p align="justify">16. If your site content doesn&#8217;t change often, your site needs a blog because search spiders like fresh text.
Don&#8217;t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won&#8217;t work.
If you are on a shared server, do a blacklist check to be sure you&#8217;re not on a proxy with a spammer or banned site.
Don&#8217;t be stingy with linking out.
Don&#8217;t try to optimize the page for several keywords at once.</p>
It&#8217;s priceless!
You&#8217;re better off letting your site pages be found naturally by the crawler. Good global navigation and linking will serve you much better than relying only on an XML Sitemap. </p>
<p align="justify">41. There are two ways to NOT see Google&#8217;s Personalized Search results: </p>
<p align="justify">(1) Log out of Google</p>
<p align="justify">(2) Append &amp;pws=0 to the end of your search URL in the search bar </p>
<p align="justify">42. Links (especially deep links) from a high PageRank site are golden. High PR indicates high trust, so the back links will carry more weight. </p>
<p align="justify">43. Use absolute links. Not only will it make your on-site link navigation less prone to problems (like links to and from https pages), but if someone scrapes your content, you&#8217;ll get backlink juice out of it. </p>
<p align="justify">44. See if your hosting company offers &#8220;Sticky&#8221; forwarding when moving to a new domain.
Videos that show up in Google blended search results don&#8217;t just come from YouTube.
Use the words &#8220;image&#8221; or &#8220;picture&#8221; in your photo ALT descriptions and captions. A lot of searches are for a keyword plus one of those words. </p>
<p align="justify">50. Enable &#8220;Enhanced image search&#8221; in your Google Webmaster Central account.
Search for &#8220;cache:URL&#8221; where you substitute &#8220;URL&#8221; for the actual page. The newer the cache date the better. If the page isn&#8217;t there or the cache date is more than an month old, the page isn&#8217;t worth much. </p>
<p align="justify">54. If you have pages on your site that are very similar (you are concerned about duplicate content issues) and you want to be sure the correct one is included in the search engines, place the URL of your preferred page in your sitemaps. </p>
<p align="justify">55. Check your server headers. Search for &#8220;check server header&#8221; to find free online tools for this. You want to be sure your URLs report a &#8220;200 OK&#8221; status or &#8220;301 Moved Permanently &#8221; for redirects. If the status shows anything else, check to be sure your URLs are set up properly and used consistently throughout your site.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">The words that are used in the links to your website have an effect on the search engine rankings of your website for these keywords. For example, if very many websites use the word &quot;blue widget&quot; to link to your website, it is likely that your website will get a high ranking on Google for the keyword &quot;blue widget&quot;.</p>
<p><!--adsense--></p>
<p align="justify"><b>How many keywords does Google consider?</b></p>
<p align="justify">It&#8217;s absolutely certain that Google considers the words in the links to your site. The question is, how many words or characters does Google count in a link? Is there an optimal length for text links? Blogger Shaun Anderson did a <a href="http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/seo-blog/index.php/anchor-text-length/">test</a> to find the answer.</p>
<p align="justify">
<p align="justify"><b>The test set-up</b></p>
<p align="justify">Shaun Anderson created a long text link with 50 nonsense words. Each of the nonsense words was 6 characters long. For example, he might have used a link like this: </p>
<p align="justify"><a href="http://www.free-seo-news.com/newsletter340.htm#">wergsd woivsd mliwdc woiuby 3245sc plorxc werxcd &#8230;</a></p>
<p align="justify">Then he added that link to the home page of a website that has good rankings on Google. </p>
<p align="justify">After some time, Shaun did a search for a keyword that the linked website ranked number one for and added the nonsense words to the search. By doing so, Google would only list the site in the search results if links to the site contained the nonsense word. </p>
<p align="justify">For example, if a website has a number one ranking for &quot;buy used cars in dallas&quot; then the website will only be returned by Google for &quot;buy used cars in dallas wergsd&quot; if Google has indexed a link with the text &quot;wergsd&quot; that points to the website.</p>
<p align="justify"><b>The result: the perfect length seems to be 55 characters</b></p>
<p align="justify">Out of the 50 words in the link text, Google counted eight. Everything after the eighth word was ignored. Eight words that consist of six characters make 48 characters. The seven spaces between these six words add up to a total of 55 characters.</p>
<p align="justify"><b>What does this mean for your website?</b></p>
<p align="justify">You should make sure that the important keywords come in the first 55 characters of the links that point to your website. </p>
<p><!--adsense--></p>
<p align="justify">As many websites use the title of a web page to link to it, you should also consider the way you write your web page titles. If your important keywords are at the beginning of your web page titles, chances are that these keywords will also be used in the links to your site.</p>
