Today internet is loaded with ideas to make money online and affiliate marketing remains on top of the list. It is beyond doubt a great way to earn money, because it just gets started with no or little investment. Then why do people fail to achieve success? In case you aren’t making money out of affiliate business, then you need to note the following 6 traps that can kill your business.

1. Believing that affiliate is all about inserting links:

One of the greatest mistake people do is put up affiliate company links, banner and generic ads on site and think that sales would follow automatically. Well, that’s far away for the reality. Instead of wasting time in making your website look glorified with full of banner, it is better to concentrate on posting informed product reviews. Write about benefits of listed products and this would surely encourage your readers to check out the products.

2. Promoting too many programs at the same time:

The prospect trap is a deadly mistake into which lot of people get fascinated. It is simple, the more campaigns you will have, the less you would be able to concentrate on. Many new offers would come your way, but it is good to focus on one or two in the start. Later you can try different strategies and know which works best for you. Note – Once you are stable with product commission then think of second affiliate product to list. Even then if you are looking to sell many at time, then go with product clusters in same associated niches to promote them.

3. Assuming that marketing in single method is enough:

Giving up just by trying on single method is a big mistake most affiliate marketers do. At times it takes lot of effort and different marketing strategies to start making money online. It cannot happen overnight or just by submitting few articles to article directories. Concentrating on one strategy will limit your budding buyers and traffic. You will have to learn to try several methods and work hard at it to make it happen.

4. Believing in short term instead of long term:

As an affiliate marketer you must concentrate on long term profit, this is not for people that need fast cash in short time. The moment you think of taking up affiliate marketing business have a mind set of long term profit. Conversely, PPC is a great way to quick money, but the amount of hard work and conscious effort you put in, you deserve better. So, more than anything else, you must make marketing paths that can give you good results even 5 years down the line.

5. Assuming all the products at sellable:

Much research is required before you jump in affiliate marketing if you want to avoid regretting later. You must find out by researching affiliate programs that essentially have something worth selling. Many programs also offer 80% commission on sales, but then if you are not able to sell any, there is in turn no profit. Don’t get trapped by such extremely high sale commissions. Learn to do your home work!

6. Believing Prospect will come back without Follow-up:

No, don’t expect your budding customer to come back without having a follow-up system completely in place. This is the way to create trust among you and potentials, which would help you create even more income. So keep in touch with your prospects, until they buy from you and even after that, because they will use to buying on your recommendation.

If you avoid falling into the above traps, I’m sure you will make it up to your goal. Just fix the simple things in place and you’ll start making a lot more money.

Good news, you don’t have to wish you knew how to use video infomercials to boost sales of any product or service you offer. Because you’re about to learn a few secrets that until now only a few online marketers have been using to boost their earnings online. Read on to discover five amazing tips on how to get started pulling in enormous amounts of cash using video and increasing their websites conversions.

#1 – Videos are effective. In fact, videos are the perfect way to promote practically anything on the Internet because everyone is so accustom to watching commercials on TV. Commercials are appealing because they allow the audience to see and hear the offer. That’s important for a number of reasons, including the fact that some people are better able to understand and retain visual information rather than if it’s just in aural or written form.

Getting accepted into CPM banner ad networks is many times a big problem faced .There can be many reasons decline in the acceptance level of the blog into an ad network. Some of the most obvious reasons are getting discussed below in which I have tried to give a solution to this problem.

  1. The very first thing giving a positive impression is its outlook. It should have professional outlook to reap maximum benefits.
  2. The next thing which I feel important is the content of the blog. There are a number of checks by the advertising network to see the suitability and sustainability of the topic as well as its type which means editorial style used by it and its length. The originality of the blog is also checked to see if its not imitated one. Therefore one needs to be careful while designing it. The blogs with the most relevant content to their advertisers is always preferred . I know about some of the ad networks who are very specific regarding the quality of the content i.e. they have their emphasis on the writing skills of the content, its active user base etc. This is done to maintain the novelty of their ad network so that it does not gets filled up with trash only.  Every network has its own set of standards for different purposes-let it be for adult content or the language being used.
  3. I have seen ad networks rejecting the blogs that are hosted on free services and the ones which they feel to be personal.
  4. Many sites have objection with the type of the site e.g. the forums are sometimes difficult to accept because of their long lengths and their frequent ad blindness.
  5. Sometimes the most obvious reason for declining the ad can  be that it is already loaded with too many ads
  6. Language also act as a barrier as non-English ads are not accepted in usual.
  7. Most of the ad networks serve only US traffic so if your site has more non-US traffic then your ad will get abandoned.
  8. Having sufficient traffic is a prerequisite for getting the ad accepted and the ad networks also have devices like Alexa have an eye on the traffic.

Some of the reasons suggested by me might seem to be absurd. But the easiest way for getting accepted according to me is to design the site professionally and increase its traffic .In addition to this one should always keep on experimenting with new ideas.

One popular piece of advice you may hear when investing is to "diversify your portfolio".

How can you put this advice to use in affiliate marketing? Simply put, your affiliate program is your investment and there are some basic things you can do to make sure your investment is a solid one. Smart money uses diversification as a strategy when managing advertiser relationships. View these relationships similar to the way stockholders view their portfolios. You balance the risk between your affiliations in the same way you would high- and low-risk stocks. Only with this balance can you achieve long term success. Here’s how:

Build a Solid Foundation

Publishers often fail to ask themselves the basic yet critical questions. One such question is: Who are my advertisers? It sounds simple, but the answers may surprise you. There are some publishers who focus on one advertiser relationship and hope that it will grow their business for them. Perhaps it’s the lure of a trend or a super hot product. And just like a high-risk stock, it may pay off in the short run. However, when the trends change or the hot new product is old news, those publishers are forced to abandon their efforts. This kind of "all your eggs in one basket" strategy will seldom bring success in the long term.

On the flip side there are publishers who have tried to join with every advertiser in our network only to succumb to disorganization and missed opportunity. There’s a difference between diversification and disorganization. Trying to be too many things to too many advertisers lacks focus and an inbox overflowing with messages will only result in missed opportunities.

I’ve put together some of the top ways to produce sales for Online Dating Affiliate Programs. These are techniques currently being used by successful affiliates:

Article Marketing

Writing articles and submitting them to sites like EzineArticles.com is a great way to get rankings in Google. You can link to your site in the author credits for a free inbound link to your site or blog. Make sure to write keyword-rich content and use a subject line that will get ranked for popular searches (i.e. "How to Find a Date with Online Dating Sites").

PPC Marketing

Using Google, Yahoo and MSN pay-per-click to drive traffic to your site is a great way to make sales, but be very careful with your daily budget or cost can quickly get out of hand.

Dating Review Site

Launching a dating review site is a great way to make money with the online dating niche. You can list out MatchMaker.com, Date.com and Amor.com plus any other sites below that. You can list a coupon code from MatchMaker.com or Date.com and provide a short review to visitors.

Newsletter/Email Marketing

Do you have a newsletter database of email address you have been collecting from your site? Why not send out either a solo email blast or place banners in your newsletter! You can also add your affiliate link in your email signature. Make sure to maintain CAN-SPAM compliance with your email marketing efforts. Never just buy a list and email it.

Blogging

Blogging is a great way to publish articles and content in order to generate SEO traffic. Make sure you have placed your affiliate banners and links around your blog theme. Start writing blog posts on all aspects of online dating.
