My Blogging Journey
I started creating personal web pages with Yahoo! GeoCities & Tripod in the early 2000. Later in 2004 I switched to a free domain name provider called Dot TK and used a free web hosting plan by Netfirms which offered around 25 MB space. On March 23, 2005, I registered my first top level domain name (it was a .net) with a mere 10 MB space which costed $20 then for which I used my dad’s credit card without his knowledge (I obviously, have paid him back 1,000x). It was a basic HTML website which I created using Microsoft FrontPage (which I still use to make static HTML web pages and landing pages). Preview my first website here. Ever since, I have registered over 100 domain names from Netfirms to Yahoo! to GoDaddy.
I started my blogging journey with Blogger in 2004 and started many blogs on blogspot since then. I don’t remember who introduced WordPress to me but it changed the way I blog. I registered minterest.com on September 30, 2006 and it’s my first WordPress blog.
At first Minterest was a financial blog featuring Banking, Investments and Stock Markets. Later in 2007 I transformed Minterest into an Internet Marketing & Technology blog. But I wasn’t serious about professional blogging until I stumbled upon John Chow’s free eBook Make Money Online in 2007 which is definitely a bible for bloggers.
At my peak, I was earning over $7,000 a month from Google AdSense, Commission Junction and other affiliate networks.
I was an active blogger until 2008 when the stock market crashed after which I focused more on stocks and other businesses than blogging. This kept the blog idle for over 2 years. In 2009 I became a Twitter addict spending more time on Tweeting than anything else. Twitter even blocked my account for tweeting 1,000 tweets a day which is the maximum updates allowed by Twitter in a single day. I guess its because they believe that no one can actually tweet more than 1,000 times in 1,440 minutes.
The year 2010 was the worst year of my life till date. I was lost. Don’t ask me why. But later, in the year 2011 I focused more on the business and finally as you can see I became an active blogger here at Minterest once again.
